I believe people choose their own destiny not the government. Of course within reasonable laws. The markets usually find a balance. If the market is too expensive they tend to go out of business. The problem is bought and paid for politicians. This is where the problem lies. Greed and corruption go back 2000 yrs and it prevails to this day and probably forever. Striking a balance is really the biggest thing for humans to over come. The righteous will always view the rest of us as the "weak". Again human nature.

Strict gun control.... Automatic weapons are not legal and haven't been. An M-4 or an AR-15 is not an automatic weapon

"Church and State"....most people completely miss the originally intention of this phrase, and it starts with the interpretation of State. The founders weren't referring to a physical location, i.e. a nation state or sovereign state. They were referring the particular condition that someone or something is in at a specific time, or rather mental position or situation. This can be confirmed when referring to a dead president as "laying in state", a very old phrase that we've kept through the years. See the context now, and how the term was used back then!?!?! They were stressing that a President or any politician shouldnt resort to the churches opinion via prayer etc for resolving matters and making tough decisions. Anyone remember how powerful Catholic Church became in our not so long ago distant past? Secondly, prayer can sometimes clouds judgment (i am Christian admitting this). The founders fathers recognized this and that's why we had the phrase "separation of church and state"

Very informative! I just realized I am more of a republican than my husband who claimed to be one. My biggest issue is on social welfare, while I understood that few people qualified and are entitled to it, I believe others DO NOT. I believe people are playing with the system too well and keep telling themselves that it's okay to stay home and wait for handouts that came from hard working citizens. What an irony right? Please don't be cross with me! From a hard working mom....
