The Democratic and Republican parties dominate the political landscape of the United States. Their differences lie in various issues like tax policy, health care, etc.

Interesting article. I think both parties have something good and bad generally speaking. To have a real representation of whole society they need to learn to work together, with respect to each others feelings and opinions. In the end main thing is a process of education , where Unity between all parts of society and mutual respect and care is top priority. We are human beings after all, that all need love and happiness regardless what I think is right or wrong.

Both parties have great points. Abortions and gay marriages are not right so I agreed with that. Decreasing taxes from low income and median families is right because the wealthy have enough money. Raising minimum wage is an excellent approach because some employers will try to get away with as much as they can. I do believe is harsher punishment for those who have committed a crime so others will think twice about doing the same but there is a lot of innocent people in jail. I believe we need to create a better system that will make sure the correct person is in jail. I believe public assists should be limited to those who really need it not people who can work but the elders, people with disabilities and single mothers too much assists makes a person lazy and puts our country in debt. Restrict gun ownership and limit immigrants from coming into the US. Apply more law to protect the people and the environment.

The differences between the two parties is stark. The term progressives for the Democrats is very misleading. The Democrats used the term progressive in the early 1900s until what it stood for became so negative that they changed to being liberals. Then in the late 1900s the term liberal became so negative because of what the Dems stood for they changed back to the being progressives because it sounded more positive. The only thing progressive about the Dems is that they insist on programs that move citizens progressively more towards dependance on government and further and further away from personal responsibility and individual freedoms. The progressive agenda also moves us further away from a God centered world view and closer to a man centered world view where man decides what marriage is, not God, where a mother can choose to kill her own unborn child because he or she is inconvenient. The progressive movement wants to ignore the limited enumerated powers contained in our Constitution and instead control people and business and our culture ignoring the will of the people required in our Declaration of Independence. The Republicans have moved closer to more regulations and less freedoms similar to the progressives but have not abandoned the principles and values enshrined in our Declaration of Independence. The progressives seem to be racing towards abandoning our nation's founding values regardless of the wishes of our citizens. The Republicans are much more likely to want to restore our nation's founding values and culture. Under man's law in the 20th century 260 million people were murdered by their own governments during peace time. This never happens where a nation follows Judeo - Christian values. The Republican party is our only hope for restoring our founding values enshrined in our Declaration of Independence, and restoring the limited federal government that We the People authorized under our US Constitution. In summary if you want more government control of your life and freedoms like in socialist or communist countries then the progressives in the Democratic party should be your choice. If you are ready to accept more personal responsibility and enjoy more personal and economic freedoms and opportunity, reign in a bolted intrusive government and bind them back down with the chains of the Constitution, and reestablish the values and principles enshrined in our Declaration of Independence, then the Republican party should be your choice. Jon Adams warned us: "No government has power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by religion and morality. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people, it is totally inadequate for the government of any other."

Interesting article, but the world today is different. There are no easy answers. Next election I will be voting as an independent because both parties are too extreme. I don't agree with a mandatory minimum wage hike. I do believe it should be raised, but not to $15 per hour. Base it on experience and work record. My daughter is a teenager and works for Quik Trip. She is making $10.65 per hour and receives bonus incentives regularly. She is motivated to go to work! Give a fair wage and include these incentives. It's fair and will motivate the employee. Duh! The corporate greed is sickening. How many homes and boats does one person need? I don't believe in guns in any form or fashion. Obviously they kill too many innocents, animals included! Why? How about because of power and ego! Again, sickening! The Affordable Health Care Act still has kinks that need fixing. How about addressing the insurance companies over this one??? Republican rights are nothing but hipocrites. How many against abortion have fostered children or adopted any? I would love to know the stat on that one. Everything today is outrageously expensive and made of poor quality. The price of a pair of tennis shoes is ridiculous. The cost verses markup is sickening. APPLE really incites me and the price people pay to get the lastest version baffles me even more. It is obvious to me that people are sick of living in war torn countries. War is an old way of resolving problems. Again, power and ego. Some of the old timers in the Congress are just that! Too old. Let the younger generation step in and update to old ways. As I said before. The world is different now. It's time to live for each other. Isn't that what it's all about? Love one another?

While there are certain fundamental or founding principals of each party, at the end of the day, they are all politicians. Sadly, most geared towards the success of their party (regardless of the issues) and remaining in control. The very need to describe the two parties only solidifies the fact that the individual citizen is voting for the party which is closest to their views, but neither truly represents their Needs directly. Of the Party, By the People, For the Party..

Near as I can tell, both parties are wrong on nearly every issue. Stop the gerrymandering and the legal bribery and people will find ways to compromise on almost all of this, even abortion and capital punishment. As it is, those two things encourage them NOT to reach a compromise , with the result being the deadlocked disaster we are currently seeing. Also, for every new law they pass, they should have to remove one older one.

It is really hard for me to identify as Republican or Democrat on every point. I agree/disagree with both on a point by point basis. I don't believe in new gun control laws, we should enforce the laws we already have. I do believe that abortion is inherently wrong, with the exception that the birth could kill the mother; there are many married couples that are unable to have children and would love to be able to adopt (my wife and I included) , I think there should be a reformed foster system to prevent abuse and neglect. I believe in reformed immigration laws that prevent undocumented immigrants from entering the country illegally and causing a further strain on our already stressed financial resources. There should always be legal channels for immigration though, our country was founded on immigrants. There is not a single person in America (besides the Native Americans) that don't have immigrant ancestors. Every new person wishing to become a citizen should have at least a general knowledge of the laws and constitution to the extent as every other American has. They should pass a citizenry test. Most importantly able bodied legal immigrants should have the same responsibilities and opportunities as other citizens, including paying taxes. I believe in separation of church and state, but I believe traditional marriage is between a man and a woman. I believe in less government control over individuals lives, liberty and pursuit of happiness. I believe able bodied citizens should be required to support themselves, but I also believe in providing more American jobs for individuals so they can provide for their families. I don't agree with cuts for medicare, welfare, and food stamps, many Americans: the elderly, mentally/physically handicapped and single mothers that work menial jobs count on these services to live. I believe in freedom of religion, but not to the point where it encroaches on government laws. I believe in the constitution, and not having the concentration of power given to a single entity or governing official. That's why we have different branches of government in place. I don't believe the president should bypass congress and use Executive order to make laws, that should never be an option. I actually believe in the principle set forth by our ancestors of a government being "of the people, by the people, and for the people.

Since I can't edit my last post, I will add that while I believe in traditional marriage, we are living in non-traditional times. And that preventing individuals with alternative lifestyles from having the same rights, is in and of itself, not separation of church and state. To me this issue in NOT a black and white issue...there is a lot of gray thrown in there.
