Where the greedy individual has a detrimental impact upon others of which they are at best, unconcerned and at worst despise those whom they harm in their appetite for wealth? Could extreme cases of avarice be considered a Sociopathic trait?

@ : Hi, Arthur. In my opinion, greedy people with little sympathy to others and no shame to themselves may be sociopath, yet a sociopath is diagnosed through more 1 or 2 traits. Here is a link for you to refer: http://www.md-health.com/Sociopath-Traits.html. Hope it will help. :-)

I was wondering if we have yet to determine whether or not psychopathy/sociopathy can be treated? If yes, what form of therapy is used? It seems that people we're aware of the disorder and it's surprising prevalence, but instead of viewing people exhibiting the behaviors as patients, we've instead crimimalized them and demonized their characteristics as simply "bad people." If Psychopaths and Sociopaths are truly "wired differently" giving scientific explaination to their lack of empathy, have we developed a scientific gameplan for their treatment?

@ : Unfortunately there is no treatment however there are forms of therapy that can help. They have tried using hormonal drugs and mood changes which have only ever amplified the symptoms or gotten rid of them but created new ones.

@ : If you want to help the people you care a lot, i think the first thing we can do and we should do is understanding. A professional institute whether clinic or hospital can be needed for further diagnosis and treatment.

@ : these signs are some possible ones. For a exact diagnosis, you need to visit a clinic. You are just checking yourself here, i think things are not so bad. After all a real sociopath will not check "signs of a sociopath" :)

My husband has them ALL. Not a joke. He is 100% sociopath. I thought it was something he would just kind of grow out of since we married kind of young. But it's been 10 years, he's almost 40 and has not changed in the slightest. I'm screwed.

@ : When it's comes to a relationship with someone, i think communication is the key. Also, it is quite possible you have been trying to communicate with him in the long time of marriage. :( Maybe we can think in a positive sense: life will push you change your thoughts and attitude some day. 40 is a significant age. Some different things will pop to one's life. Just be patient and wiser to deal with life issues. Wish you a good day. :)

@ : @Bonny. My son has ASPD and the Clinical Psychologist who is seeing him says that marriage cannot be sustainable for people with ASPD. If found it surprising to read that SCREWED has been married for 10 years with a Sociopath. Whats going on?

@ : People tend to generalize sociopaths even doctors. Sociopathology is often very different from what we assume. Sometimes it merely means you have no empathy, sometimes it means you are just manipulative. Sometimes people are just improperly diagnosed.

Anonymous My girl matches 6 possibly 7 of those 10 traits as a sociopath, does that mean she could be considered a sociopath?

@ : The listed traits are some red flags you need to notice. And you may need to pay more attention to monitor her growth. You can also search for some local department and seek professional advice and possible treat plans.
