Movie critics are talking about 2015 as being one of the most important years of the modern cinema era. With so many expectations from the audience and critics, will 2015 live up to the challenge? The year will bring a lot of sequels, book adaptations, series finales and interesting cast and characters so it will definitely be a strong competitor for the “most interest year in movies” title. From Batman to Katniss, from 007 to the next Star Wars movie, from Mission Impossible to Disney projects, the cinema industry has something for everyone this year. What will be your favorite pick? Let’s take a look at ten of the most expected movies of 2015.

10 Most Wanted Movies of 2015

1

Avengers: Age of Ultron

The new Avengers project is one of the most anticipated movies of 2015, with fans all over the world waiting to see with what the producers and the new team members will surprise them next. With new cast such as Aaron Tayler-Johnson or Elizabeth Olsen, and a plot that promises to have a bigger impact than the one in the first Avengers movie, Avengers: Age of Ultron will surely be one of the essential releases of 2015.

Marvel Studio is determined to make this new Avengers movie better, bigger, and more spectacular than the first, and they seem to have all the necessary means to achieve that goal, from special effects to cast and a super villain in the form of an artificial intelligence with a God complex. Fans will have the opportunity to see their favorite superheroes in action, except for Loki, who has been replaced by Ultron, portrayed by the talented James Spader.

Avengers: Age of Ultron is expected to be released in May, 1, 2015, in North America, in 2D and IMAX.

2

Jupiter Ascending

The highly expected creation of Lana and Andy Wachowski was supposed to be released in 2014, but the news says it just got pushed to next year. Warner Bros. Studios have announced a new release date, February, 6, 2015, raising the mystery involving Jupiter Ascending and making fans of Lana and Andy Wachowski wait a little longer for their next masterpiece. The movie, starting Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis is a space opera that marks the return of the directors since The Matrix Trilogy so you can image what high expectations people have about their new project. The team working on Jupiter Ascending has been involved with movies such as The Matrix Trilogy, V for Vendetta, Cloud Atlas or Ninja Assassin.

Jupiter Ascending has received a lot of publicity, mostly due to the notoriety of its creators and the impressive plot but will the delay be a good thing for the movie? We’ll have to wait until the beginning of 2015 to find out if Jupiter Ascending will live up to its expectations.

3

Fifty Shades of Grey

The Fifty Shades of Grey book series, first developed as a Twilight fan-fiction, has made a major impact on the audiences, especially among women, so there should be no surprise that there is already a film in the making. The movie, scheduled to be released on Valentine’s Day in 2015, starting Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele and Jamie Dornan as Christian Grey is one of the most expected films of next year, although we are not so sure that it will be a major hit. Fifty Shades of Grey will probably follow the same controversial path as the book and, since it addresses a significant segment of movie lovers, it will definitely not pass unnoticed.

The producers (the author, E.L James is also involved) are struggling to launch the movie with a R rating, you all know that the book has more erotic scenes than actual plot development, but the fact that it will be released on Valentine’s might be a sign that the screen version of the books will be lighter when it comes to sexual scenes and will address a general audience. There is also no information yet whether the three books will be made into three distinct films or the 2015 movie will be the only one. We will have to wait and see!

4

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2

The final book of the successful Hunger Games series, Mockingjay, has been split into two films and 2015 will bring the fans the second part of Mockingjay, if no delays will appear. The movie is expected in November 2015. Alongside Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson and the other current cast members, we will see Julianne More and Natalie Dormer, known to the public due to her role in Game of Thrones.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2 is the final part of the young-adult movies and is expected to have the same success as its predecessors, especially when audiences that have not read the books have no idea how the series ends, so they will have to find out whether Katniss will end up with Gale or Peeta.

5

Star Wars: Episode VII

The major event of the cinema world in 2015 will definitely be the release of the latest Star Wars movie. Its announcement was a surprise for both fans and critics and many people are wondering if the movie will be as much of a hit as the other Star Wars Films. The movie is directed by J.J. Abrams and has not yet confirmed all of its cast members so it is still involved in a lot of mystery.

Star Wars: Episode VII has big shoes to fill and everyone expects a lot from it, mainly because sometimes these kind of comebacks don’t have the expected success. We will just have to wait until 2015, if no delays occur, to see if J.J. Abrams has what it takes to win the hearts of Star wars fans from around the world.

6

Tomorrowland

With Pirates of the Caribbean pushed to 2016, will Disney manage to release a blockbuster in 2015? Tomorrowland stars George Clooney in the leading role and Hugh Laure as the villain and is a science-fiction which was originally named 1952 and was set for release in 2014. While the information about the plot is mainly kept secret by Disney Studios we know that the film, directed by Brad Bird, centers on Frank (George Clooney) and Casey (Britt Roberston) and their travel to an unknown place in time and space, known as Tomorrowland.

Disney fans are looking forward to Tomorrowland but we will have to see if this secretive project will have what it takes to make an impression.

7

James Bond 24

Daniel Craig and Sam Mendez have signed up for another Bond movie, which is due to be released in November, 6, 2015. Although no story details have been shared with the public, and the movie doen’t have a decisive title yet, what we do know about the new Bond movie is that it will most likely follow the success of Skyfall, the most well-received of the Bond series, especially since the team is pretty much the same and it also has some new talented people working for it. We can also tell you that the film will probably not follow any Ian Fleming plots. Add the new James Bond film to your must-see list of movies for the next year because it is definitely something you do not want to miss, if not for the quality of the production, but for the tradition of the Bond franchise.

8

Terminator 5

As we said before, 2015 is a year of major comebacks and surprises and the new Terminator movie falls right into that category, especially since the owners of the franchise had filed for bankruptcy back in 2009. How many of you saw this coming? And how many of you think that some movies are better left in the past? We don’t have a lot of details about the plot and cast yet so we will have to wait and see if Terminator 5 can make us fall in love with this franchise again.

9

Jurassic World

Looks like 2015 is the year of the franchises. Another highly expected movie is Jurassic World, directed by Colin Trevorrow (you know him from the lovely surprise Safety Not Guaranteed). Coming more than 20 years after Jurassic Park, this movie can have a major impact on 3D and IMAX lovers, as it promises to be full of interesting and never-seen-before special effects. Jurassic World is scheduled for release in June, 12, 2015 and the plot has not yet been shared with the public.

10

The Fantastic Four

After the failure of the other attempts of bringing the much-loved comic series to screen, Fox is giving it a third change, and you know what they say, third time’s a charm. The movie will be directed by Josh Trank and is scheduled for release in June, 19, 2015.

As you can see, 2015 is shaping up to be a great year for the movie industry, as the ten you see above are only one of the best and most expected films, but there are a lot more surprises in store for movie lovers, be sure to keep up with the updates, as some films may be delayed for a future date.
