Social media is undergoing an interface-transition of late. Earlier communication would be mostly through text and voice messages, but now Snapchat is leading the revolution by using images and video clips as the centrepiece. This has been a major hit with young adults and teenagers who have found new and creative ways to express themselves on the internet. In light of this fresh trend, being familiar with the basic nuances of Snapchat, most importantly how to see other people’s snapchats has come to be rather important.

How to See Other People’s Snapchats

One of Snapchat’s features is that you can only view another person’s snaps if they have added it on to their story or sent it to you privately. So let’s learn how to see other people’s Snapchats!
1

Step 1: Go to the stories page

Once you have opened Snapchat, you should be on the main page which displays the camera. From here, you need to go to the “Stories” page which can be done by swiping one page to the right. If you are on the “Stories” page, you should see your own story option on top and a list of names down in the bottom.

2

Step 2: Look for the person you want to view

If you scroll down, you should see a list of “Recent updates” and below that, other people’s stories. Note that if someone has not added a snap to their story you can only view it ONCE! After you are done viewing it, Snapchat will automatically disable the view button. However, if someone has added a post on their story, you can view it as many times as you want in 24 hours. Scroll down and tap on the name of the friend whose snap you want to see.

3

Step 3: View snaps

When you have found and clicked on the name of the person you want to view, their snap or their story should open depending on which list they are under. Their snap story should open once you tap on their name along with a timer on top that displays for how long you can view that snap. Earlier, you would have to keep your finger pressed down to view snapchats, but with the recent update that is no longer required.

4

Step 4: Skip snaps

So you don’t want to see every snap of the story but just a few of them? No worries. Snapchat has a feature that enables you to flip through snaps with just a tap of a screen. While the snap story is playing, simply tap once on the screen to skip to the next snap. Tapping multiple times would run you through multiple snaps until finally you reach the end of the story.

5

Step 5: Review snaps

You can only review other people’s snaps if it is on their stories. But hurry, because even those snaps will be gone after 24 hours. Within those 24 hours though, you can view them as many times as you like by going to the “Stories” page and clicking on their names as mentioned in the previous steps.

How to Unfriend Someone on Snapchat

1

Step 1: Head to your friends’ list

If you know how to see other people’s Snapchats, this should be easy. On the main camera page, tap the “ghost” icon at the top. This should pull down a menu with your main friend-control panel. Tapping on the third option which says “My Friends” should get you to your friends’ list.

2

Step 2: Look for the culprit

Scroll down to locate the person who has been bothering you. Once there, tap once on their name and a “gear-shaped” icon will appear next to it.

3

Step 3: Block ‘em!

If you have followed up to this point, clicking on the gear icon should make a menu appear, where you can choose what happens to this person. To remove them permanently, tap on the “delete” option to have them gone!

How to See Someone’s Best Friends

1

With a recent update, in order to protect the privacy of users, Snapchat has done away with the “best friends” feature and replaced with a new emoji feature. So if you’re close to someone on Snapchat, an emoji will appear next to their name on your friends’ list. Here’s a list on what those symbols mean and what you can decipher from them!

  • The “gold heart” icon means that that person and you are each other’s best friends.

  • The “gritted teeth” emoji means that your best friend is their best friend. Beware, you have competition!

  • The usual “smile” emoji would mean that the person is one of your best friends.

  • The “sunglasses guy” emoji means that one of your best friends is theirs too!

  • The “smirk face” says that you are their best friend, but they are not yours. Cheeky!

  • And lastly, the “fire” icon means that you two are on a snap streak! You have snapchatting back and forth for successive days. Nice!
