Ways of Preventing Hair Loss

1

Know causes of hair loss

The hair loss prevention method that you opt for should be considered carefully after understanding why your hair is falling. The reasons could be many, including and not limited to:

  • Poor diet

  • Environmental reasons like pollution

  • Hard water

  • Hormonal imbalance

  • Lots of stress or depression

  • Smoking

  • Genetic problems

  • Lack of proper nutrition

  • Medical conditions

If your hair loss is due to medical or genetic conditions, then obviously you need to head over to the doctor and talk about what can be done. However, if it is due to other reasons, then the following hair loss prevention methods can greatly help you

2

Use aloe vera

Aloe vera gel or juice can help a lot. Of course, your first choice would be the extracts taken directly from an aloe vera leaf, because there’s just no substitute for the real thing. If however you don’t have any aloe vera plants at home, go ahead and purchase some organic juice from the supermarket. The plant has alkalizing properties that greatly reduce the acidic content of your hair, not to mention the fact that it also reduces inflammation, redness and scalp itching.

All you have to do is to take the juice, put it in an empty spray bottle and then spray it on your scalp like a dry shampoo. Leave it there for at least 2 hours, and then wash it off with a mild shampoo and warm water. Do this for a minimum of 3 times a week and soon enough not only will you witness less hair loss, but increased shine to your hair as well.

3

Try fenugreek seeds

Their hormone antecedents, nicotinic acid and protein not only help in rebuilding your hair follicles, but promote hair growth as well. This is what makes fenugreek seek one of the best and cheapest hair loss prevention materials.

All you have to do is to take a handful of seeds and soak them in warm water overnight. The next day, mix them in a grinder, make a paste and apply it on your scalp section wise. Keep it there for an hour or two and then wash it off with warm water. Repeat this process at least 4 times a week.

4

Massage with hair oil

We spend hundreds of dollars on expensive face creams, masks, body lotions and what not. But how much of that money do we spend on buying products that actually nourish and moisturize our hair? Masks are great, sure, but they aren’t half as good as hair oil.

Coconut oil is the most popular choice of hair oil the world over, but if it doesn’t suit you, then you can easily opt for alternatives like jojoba or almond oil. Take small amounts of oil in your palm, and apply it from the mid length of your hair to its ends. Make sure to use it generously. Apply it section wise and when you’re done, apply it on your scalp and the remainder of your hair. See, hair loss prevention isn’t as difficult as it sounds – all it requires is time and patience.

5

Use Indian gooseberry

Rich in vitamin C, the Indian gooseberry, or aamla as it’s called in India, is a goldmine of antioxidants that is capable of helping get rid of almost all your hair issues. Now you can use this in various forms:

  • Purchase it in powder form, soak it overnight in water and then apply the paste on your scalp the next day;

  • Buy gooseberry, soak it overnight, grind the mixture into a paste and then apply it on your scalp.

Apply it 3-4 times a week for at least a stretch of 2 hours. You can mix things up a bit by adding 2 spoons of lemon juice to your mixture for added shine and to detract dandruff growth or even 2-3 spoons of aloe vera juice.

6

Spay some onion Juice

Surprised? Don’t be. The high sulphur content in onions not only helps repair hair follicles, but also helps increase blood circulation. Their antibacterial properties reduce any inflammation you may have on your scalp.

As is with the above mentioned items, extract its juice, put it in a spray bottle and spritz it onto your scalp section wise. Keep it there for an hour or so and then wash it off with shampoo, preferably one that has a strong scent because this is one hair loss preventing method whose smell can be quite off putting.

7

Other methods for hair loss prevention

So now that we’ve discussed topical ways of keeping your hair loss in control, here are some short pieces of advice for you:

  • No crash dieting: This may result in hormonal imbalances, which in turn affects your hair growth/fall rate.

  • Eat lots of proteins: You can easily get it from spinach, broccoli, eggs, and pulses.

  • Visit a doctor immediately if you have depression, stress or anxiety.

  • Yogasana: It allows proper flow of oxygen to your bloodstream, which in turn nourishes your hair follicles.

  • Avoid washing your hair daily; instead do it twice or thrice a week.

  • Maintain your hair properly. Avoid using hair products like gel, dry shampoo, mousse, etc. as well as straightening irons and blow dryers on a daily basis. Keep them aside for special occasions.

  • Protect your hair from pollution and sun damage: Cover your hair with a scarf to avoid unnecessary exposure.
