Your defintion makes the metaphor and simile exactly the same. Give more definitive examples.

How do you differentiate between antithesis and paradox?

@ : Paradox: something (such as a situation) that is made up of two opposite things and that seems impossible but is actually true or possible. Eg: For the actors, the goal was a paradox: real emotion, produced on cue. http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/paradox An antithesis is often expressed in a balanced sentence, that is, a sentence in which identical or similar syntactic structure is used to express contrasting ideas. For example, “Marriage has many pains, but celibacy has no pleasures. They differ both in sentence structure as well as the meaning. Paradox is about a certain thing/ situation whereas antithesis usually involve two subjects to make the meaning come through. Hope this helps.
